On Wednesday, September 27th, LL.M. Alumna Lauren Bernadett will join us for a discussion on her current role as a Natural Resource Attorney with Briscoe, Ivestar, and Bazel.

Lauren earned her J.D. at the UCLA School of Law and was the 2013 Joyce A. Will Scholar in Environmental Law.  She served as a Managing Editor for the UCLA Law Review and took LL.M. alumnus Michael Roberts' Food Law and Policy seminar.  During law school, Lauren worked as a summer legal intern with the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Land Law Section of the California Attorney General's Office in Los Angeles.  Lauren received her B.A. in Sociology cum laude, with high distinction, from UC San Diego.

Lauren joined the LL.M. Program in the fall of 2013 and served as Graduate Assistant to the LL.M. Program while she was with us, with work that included posts to this blog, preparing the AALA 2013 Food Law Update, and co-authoring a chapter for an ABA book on urban agriculture (with Nicole Civita and Susan Schneider). She completed an independent study under the direction of Professor Allen Olson on the water rights doctrine of equitable apportionment, writing an article on current developments in the U.S. Supreme Court.

After the Program, Lauren was selected as a California Sea Grant Fellow with the California State Lands Commission (CSLC) in Sacramento.  In the spring of 2015, Lauren joined Somach Simmons and Dunn, a Sacramento-based law firm that specializes in environmental, agricultural, and water law issues. While there, her work focused on water resources, water quality, natural resources, and agricultural resources.

In 2017, Lauren joined Briscoe, Ivestar, and Bazel as a Natural Resource Attorney. Her bio is available on their website.
